"Wanderlust and Heartache": Finding Motivation and Chasing Dreams on the Road

I'm just going to write for a while. No particular direction, no editing, just some things that are in my head at the moment. So if you want - Stay a While and Listen.

Traveling is sometimes lonely, but the time you have to yourself can be very helpful. Introspection, thinking a lot about what I want from life in the long-run, mentally organizing all the projects and things I have to do once you get home and have a little bit of physical free time, and there's a certain melancholy to it too - since everything you are experiencing is just you most of the time. You're not sharing this with anyone, you can't. This is just for you - and you alone to learn from, build from, and ultimately take it all one step at a time.

Mammut Festival - Konigsbrunn 2025

Don't get me wrong… as I always say I am fortunate enough to live a very interesting and incredibly rewarding life most of the time. This is not a sad lament about anything that's wrong with this particular lifestyle, just a collection of my thoughts and experiences, packaged into something that could potentially be interesting.

The more time you spend with yourself (something we entirely forgot how to do nowadays), the more you understand the why and the how. Why you've made decisions you've made in the past, how that effected you as a person and individual, and also if you could do it again: would you do it the same way? In my case the answer is almost always yes. Because I firmly believe that all the good AND bad things that happened have shaped me into the guy I see in the mirror today. And most of the time I like what I see. The endless cycle of creative determinism, the obstacles along the way - it all helped to shape a confident self-image I now have of myself. And regardless of what anyone can and will say: that's a good thing. Because loss, pain, hardship and overcoming those things primarily within yourself is the best bunch of teachers you will ever have.

You know what else helps? A lot? Reminding yourself every day that there is no such thing as a “right time”. No one is ever ready, no one is perfectly prepared and ready for what life will throw at them. And that's fine. Not everyone will take a leap and burn their comfort-zone to the ground either. And that's fine too. But if you, like me - are one of the restless dreamers who would rather sacrifice a stable grounded life, a comfortable bed, a regular sleep schedule, and a lot of times even your physical well-being just to see what “could be” and what's “out there”… Well, welcome to the club. It's a fun one. And by "fun" - I mean heartbreaking, endless, euphoric, sad, and the entire scope of possible human emotions.

The more people life throws in your direction, especially if you carefully curate who you surround yourself with, and who have similar goals and ambitions to yours - the more real, and possible it all begins to feel. Because you are suddenly in a whole ocean of dreamers. Dreamers who agree with you, the ones who fight you, the ones who try to understand you, and lift you up with mutual respect, care and comradery - Because they all know, regardless of the type of your desired outcome, they know exactly how much it takes. How many times you've asked yourself if it's even worth it, should you do something else, are you even deserving of the things you have? They know. You can see it in their eyes, and feel it in their demeanor. And those moments help remind you, wherever you are - you're not done yet.

There's almost something mystical and strange about how people with similar eyes towards the world subconsciously attract each other from all possible walks of life. In our Heavy Metal universe you can make lifelong friends during a 2 hour semi-drunk conversation at a festival's back-stage somewhere in Miami, then proceed to re-organize your entire plan and schedule for the next month - just because - something that person said made absolute sense, and you can't believe you haven't thought of it that way before?!

It really is true what they say. "You're the sum of the 5 people you hang out the most with".

So, how do you keep going? Well it's pretty simple - you ask yourself if you have any other choice. And if the answer is yes - consider your options. If any of those options makes more sense to you in that situation then whatever you're doing at the given time: dig deeper.

If the answer is NO - Congratulations, you're one of the “lucky” few who found something that will never let them go.

I honestly don't know if anyone is going to read this, and maybe it doesn't even matter. But if you ARE here, and are reading this… Chances are - you need to take the leap. There is no “better time”. There's only you - your decisions - and your own capability to change, re-ignite the drive you have inside of you - and see what happens.

Until Next Time,

With Raw Power,
